McClane Bernshausen is a composer, arranger, educator, and performer from Elizabethton Tennessee. He studied composition under Dr. Neal Endicott, as well as percussion under Dr. Matthew Geiger, Dr. Logan Ball, and Dr. Cristian Swafford. He is currently finishing up his bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University, with plans to pursue his Master’s in Percussion Performance.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, McClane was surrounded by the arts, be it dance, music, or visual. He now hopes to combine his interests in electronic music, modern dance, and painting to create a new kind of expectation for what art can be. McClane proudly advocates performing and programming music with diverse backgrounds. He hopes to give a platform for those in the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, as well as use his own to speak up about the things he believes in.
He is currently on track to get his Masters in Percussion Performance where he hopes to push the literature, pedagogy, and opportunities available for music with electronics as well as interdepartmental collaboration.
