Cory High

Dr. Cory J. High is a South Carolina-based performer and educator, teaching at Newberry College and Claflin University. He received a Bachelor of Music Education and Performer’s Certificate from the University of Florida, a Master of Music from Lee University, and is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of South Carolina.

Cory's performance achievements include the highest placement in the Great Plains International Marimba Competition and the Tennessee Marimba Competition. He has also had performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2014 and 2017. In addition, Cory has had the pleasure of working with amazing musicians such as Nancy Zeltsman, Michael Burritt, Imani Winds (2006 Grammy Award Nominees), Third Coast Percussion (2017 Grammy Award Winning Ensemble), and Leigh Howard Stevens.

Currently, Cory’s time is spent teaching and researching the possible pedagogy uses of Baroque lute repertoire… while also planning a wedding!
