Ethan Prado
Ethan James Prado (b. 2000) was born and raised by two Filipino immigrants in Lombard, Illinois. He has had works premiered by ensembles such as the neoPhonia New Music Ensemble, the Queer Big Apple Corps, and the Illinois Modern Ensemble, and had works selected for the 2023 SCI Region VIII and the CMS Great Lakes conferences. He was also selected as an honorable mention in the Reno Pops Orchestra’s 2023 Composer’s Showcase, a selectee in Dr. James Brinkmann’s “What If...” Call for Scores, a finalist in the ASCAP Foundation 2022 Morton Gould Young Composer Awards Competition, and was a selectee in the NYC Contemporary Music Symposium's 2022 Percussion Composition Competition. He graduated with Bachelor's degrees in Composition-Theory and Percussion Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His composition teachers included Prof. Reynold Tharp, Prof. Sever Tipei, Prof. Stephen Taylor, and Prof. Carlos Carrillo. As for percussion, he studied under Prof. William Moersch and Prof. Ricardo Flores. Ethan has performed with the top ensembles of UIUC, including its Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Illinois Modern Ensemble, Steel Band, and Percussion Ensemble. He is a tenured member of the Wheaton Municipal Band’s percussion section and a member of The Naperville Winds.
