Jeffrey Elem

Jeffrey Elem (b.1998) is a percussionist and composer. He received his bachelor's in music composition from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he also studied percussion under the instruction of Prof. William Moersch and Prof. Ricardo Flores. He then received his master's degree from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Jeffrey's piece has been selected by All Score Urbana(2017) and he was commissioned to write a piece for Illinois Modern Ensemble(2019).

For the 2020-21 school year, he composed and produced several tracks for Japan House Shares as a senior intern for Japan House at the University of Illinois. In addition, he has collaborated with students from Seoul National University(2023) to present a program featuring traditional Korean instruments. As a performer, Jeffrey has performed with the UCSO, Sinfonia da Camera, Pontiac Municipal Band, UHM Contemporary Music Ensemble, and several premier ensembles at UIUC such as Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Illinois Modern Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble.
