It is a sequel to a previous piece I wrote for solo bass drum, Red Crescent Rising. The first section of this piece uses the bass drum, a nod to its predecessor, and introduces two main themes. Next, the second section utilizes free time signatures and musical ideas found in Rebonds by Iannis Xenakis and various Casey Cangelosi pieces.
