4/2/1965 is a duet for vibraphone, multi-percussion, and electronics. A realization of a childhood poem by my father Robert “Bob” Spearman, each musical moment in the piece reflects a couplet within the poem. I generated material for the vibraphone music using the date of the poem, my father’s name, improvisation, and timbral exploration. 4/2/1965 was commissioned by Nashville percussionist Kramer Sell, my good friend and duo partner, and premiered by JS…KS Percussion Duo at Belmont University on June 30th, 2021.

1. Prepared Vibraphone
2. Drum Set: Kick drum, snare drum, mounted tom, floor tom, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, special fx cymbal, and suspended bell plate
