Blue Dahlia by Kevin Robles
Blue Dahlia by Kevin Robles
Blue Dahlia is a solo for 4.3 octave marimba. It is about the friendships we create in life and all the ways those friendships affect us. It features a beautiful melody that flows over arpeggiated chords. These chords along with this melody create a sense of calm and happiness. The music has a feeling of longing that brings back memories of good times in life, and good times with old friends. The melody is reminiscent of flowers in a field, and the flower in the center is the sole Blue Dahlia. This piece is dedicated to Caitlin Chavers. Thank you for showing me what it takes to be good in this field of music and for showing me how to never give up.
