Headtrip is the first in the “Drum Dances” series by William Newton. This piece centers around a Hi-Hat rhythmic motif, altering its presentation throughout the work. The piece draws inspiration from Steve Reich’s minimalist techniques and drummer Jojo Mayer’s virtuosity in drum ‘ n’ bass music. Headtrip offers a rhythmic journey that bends the audience’s perception of time while maintaining an infectious groove.

Headtrip can be performed as a solo with an electronic track or as a drumset duo.
