The Chase, finished in November 2020, is Robert Clayson’s musical interpretation of the chase scene found in every blockbuster action movie. You know the one--the heroes find themselves pursued by forces that seem bigger and stronger than them, but they persevere because they know that their fight is just.
The Chase is a competition piece, and Clayson finds that its programmatic theme is perfect for showcasing both aggressive and lyrical playing. Clayson wrote this piece to be achievable but exciting for younger players, and to be easily modified to meet a five-minute time limit if required.
