Turbines is an advanced, Rhapsody-like piece that explores a variety of textures and sounds. This piece was made with the intention of adding to the percussion trio repertoire, where I noticed a distinct lack of mixed instrumentation like percussion and keyboard. Each performer gets a chance to solo, each in differing styles that are each uniquely challenging.

Instrumentation:

  • Percussion 1: Vibraphone, bongos, crash ribbon, and medium tom
  • Percussion 2: Vibraphone, crotales, and medium-low tom
  • Percussion 3: Marimba and low tom
